Wow! What a Ride!
With such a huge whirlwind of acivity leading up to the 2008 BC Bike Race, and then all the excitement and energy during race week, we needed to sit back and take a breather! But now we're back in action and already getting fired up for 2009...only 345 days to go!
To those of you who raced this year, CONGRATULATIONS! As Dean Payne said, it was a great accomplishment to train your way to the start line! We were blessed with beautiful weather, generous sponsors, selfless volunteers, and enthusiastic racers...what more could we ask for!?
2008 was a great success and many thanks go out to everyone involved - from our sponsors to our staff, and from our racers to the fans who followed along at home. Thank you for making BC Bike Race The Ultimate Singletrack Experience!
Speaking of 2009
Because last month we had people chomping at the bit to register for 2009, we officially opened registration at noon on July 5th. By noon--oh-one we had our first team on the books and we've been rolling forward ever since!
So, if you were following the results and wishing you were here, you've got lots of time to get your train on for '09! And, if you've been here, done that and cannot wait to do it again, well, take some recovery time and then get back in the saddle...you already know what's in store!
Though it's early days, the Race Package will be the same - or better! - and the route will likely see a few changes too. The one thing we know for sure is that the 2009 BC Bike Race will be bigger (500 racers) and better than ever!
Check out the Package Details and Sign Up for 2009 today!
You Oughta Be in Pictures!
And, if you raced this year, we bet that you are!
If you haven't visited the new and expanded 2008 BC Bike Race Photo Gallery, now is the time!
BCBR Lead Photographer Dave Silver has uploaded umpteen amazing images to his photo gallery for your viewing (and purchasing) pleasure! He's got great coverage from every stage of the race, so drop in and relive the pain and the glory...
New for 2008 we've got Guest Pro Photogs too! Squamish local Chris Christie was on hand to snap coverage of Days 4-7 and his work is highlighted in our Photo Gallery as well. More incredible candy for your eyes!
Coming soon - more Guest Photographers and their 2008 BCBR galleries.
Ride Guide Coverage
This year the Ride Guide crew joined us for every stage of the 2008 race - including pre- and post- festivities. They shot in full HD and plan to produce an entire Ride Guide Bike episode entirely focused on the 2008 BC Bike Race!
Ride Guide's audience spans 60 countries and more than 120 million viewers. That's some incredible exposure for BCBR - and everyone who raced with us! Hope you remembered to smile for the camera...!
We'll keep you posted on the production process and projected airing dates/channels as the information is available.
Thanks Again & Enjoy Your Summer!
From all of us here at BC Bike Race, thank you for an amazing 2008 event and we hope you'll continue to ride along with us into 2009!
Have a great summer & keep the rubber side down...!
