Hope Your Summer Rides are Ripping!
The trails out here in BC are in amazing condition right now and we can only hope that the trails where you ride are just as sweet! It's been a while (we've been busy riding!) so we figured it was time to check in and let you know what's up in the BC Bike Race world. Here we go...
Registrations are Rolling!
We've just wrapped up our first registration promotion, which was a great success. Up to 30 keen teams of two signed up for the 2009 event and pulled in the bonus of upwards of $600 in BCBR schwag. Wondering what you missed? Check out the promo details here.
New Race Categories Added for 2009
Are you and your riding buddy a couple of singlespeed demons? Well, we've got a category for you! We're setting up a Singlespeed Category for teams of 2 Open Men and Open Women. As long as we have 5 teams in this category overall, the Singlespeed race is on!
Perhaps you're part of a group of more casual riders or co-workers who want to experience BC Bike Race, but aren't in it for the competition... we'll we've got a new category for you! Check out the Non-Competitive Recreational and Corporate Category for Teams of 3, 4, or 5.
What does Non-Competitive mean? Simply that all the same race rules apply as for the other categories, but your team won't qualify for the daily podium awards. As long as two members of your team complete each day before the cutoffs, you will receive BCBR finishers' medals and shirts.
Click here for more information about these and our other categories.
BCBR Finishers' Medals
Did you know that the official BC Bike Race finisher's medal does double duty as a funky belt buckle?! That's right, if you complete all seven days of BC Bike Race within the cutoff times, you will receive your very own BCBR medal/belt buckle custom designed with the BC Bike Race bear logo. The first step to earn it is to register!
If a Picture's Worth a Thousand Words...
...then we've got the equivalent of War and Peace in our photo gallery! If you haven't been there lately, you should check it out - we've got amazing photgraphs of the 2008 event from Dave Silver, Chris Christie, John Gibson and Ian Miller. These guys are great and have provided a real BC Bike Race feast for the eyes!
