Day 3 Preview - Destined to Shine!
BCBR's own Andreas Hestler gives us the inside scoop on the newly redesigned route for Stage 3 - Cumberland. The amazing hand-crafted singletrack trails in the Cumberland network have been favourites over the last 2 years of BC Bike Race and with the new additions this is going to be one fantastic day!
This past weekend, Dre and a gaggle (that's about 6 or 7) of BCBR staff and fans joined course designer Jeremy Grasby for a rip through the nearly 60km route. You won't want to miss this! Check it out here.
Day 2 - Brand New, Tested & Dialed!
With spring fully sprung, the trails are ripe for the riding. In fact, we're even serving up purpose-built trails that have just been completed to stitch together the incredible network of Vancouver Island trails that we call Day 2.
Norm Thibeault, co-captain of the new Day 2 course said, "It is currently AWESOME. With a little more work/tweaking it will be MIND blowing!!!" This from a guy who has won the Trans Rockies and BC Bike Race with wife Wendy Simms; sounds like a great day in the saddle!
Islander Justin Mark (Team Helly Hansen Vancouver Island) was one of the lucky invitees to join Norm and a group of riders on the inaugural BCBR Day 2 test ride...he's documented his experiences to whet your singletrack appetite...check it out here!
Amazing Spring Riding in Peru!
This spring, BC Bike Race teamed up with Big Mountain Adventures to coordinate an amazing mountain biking trip to Peru. The intrepid adventurers are still reeling from their incredible experience, but Andreas Hestler has pulled together a few photos of the trip to get you pumped to ride.
There's a blog coming soon to fill you in on all the adventures, but in the meantime, we think these pictures are worth more than a thousand words...
Life is Good...at the Back of the Pack!
The BC Bike Race is an amazing experience for riders of many levels - front runners, mid-packers and those at the back of the pack. Let's face it, a pack isn't a pack without a front, middle and back! Two of our most memorable Back of the Packers from 2008, Roy Wallack & Ed Korb, have made the Back of the Pack almost an institution. In fact, some of the tales they tell paint the Back of the Pack as one seriously fun place to be...which it is!
Need a little inspiration? Want a different perspective on mountain bike racing? Read up on Roy & Ed's 2008 journey...it might just motivate you to come out and join them at the Back of the Pack in 2009!
