You asked and we listened! Embark upon The Ultimate Singletrack Experience...SOLO! For each of the seven days, the guts and the glory are all yours!
Race categories for SOLO riders are Open Men, 40+ Men, Open Women, and 40+ Women.
You will each be issued a bike plate displaying your team number. For each of the seven days, you and your teammate will start the race together and must cross the finish line together. You'll share the guts and the glory as a partnership.
Race categories for two-person teams are Open Men, Open Women, Open Mixed, Veterans 80+, and Veterans 100+
For those competing in the new Challenge Event (course distances are an average of half the distance of the standard BC Bike Race Epic courses), we will recognize Stage Winners each day in the following categories: Solo Open Men, Solo Open Women, Team of Two Men, Team of Two Women, Team of Two Mixed.
*please note that all categories require a minimum of five teams registered overall for recognition.
Read our FAQ for answers to some common questions about participating in BC Bike Race.
This is a Non-Competitive Recreational category with no prizing. All team members who begin the event will receive a participants' medal.**
Are you 2 active couples that want to race but have kids and want to spell each other off every other day?
Do you have a corporate team where 3, 4, or 5 of you want to get in on the action?
Do you want to have a more relaxed approach to riding from Victoria to Whistler and want to ride every other day with 3 or 4 of your best riding buddies?
Are you a personal trainer with 2-4 clients that you want to lead through the 7 days?
If so, the Teams of More than 2 option is ideal for you!
Teams can have 2, 3, 4 or 5 team members ride each and every day! You'll each be issued a bike plate and it's up to you to decide which riders on your team belly-up to the start line each day! Whoever on your team starts the day must finish the day. Your daily Team time will be determined when your final rider crosses the finish line. Times will be posted but there are no daily awards for Teams of More than 2.
All members of your team will receive participants' medals at the end of the race on Day 7. Members who ride every day - from 1 through 7 - making all cutoff times, will receive finishers' medals.
For example, in a Team of 5:
Day 1 - Riders A, B & D start the day and all of them finish the race and make each cutoff.
Day 2 - Riders B & E start the day and both of them finish the race and make each cutoff.
Day 3 - Riders B, C & E begin the day, and Rider E drops out but Riders B & C finish the race and make each cutoff.
If this continues where Rider B finishes each stage and makes each cutoff for the remaining 4 days, then Rider B will receive a finishers' medal while the other team members will receive participants' medals.
**Please contact Racer Relations to register in the Teams of More than 2 category.
