THE BC BIKE RACE IS ON

We know that everyone wants to get out and race and we are happy to say that we are still on for this fall.

BCBR continues to work within Provincial Health Authority (PHA) Guidelines and in consultation with our host communities to deliver a great bike race and to give you the “Ultimate Singletrack Experience” this fall – with the highest ratio of singletrack of any BC Bike Race in our 14-year history!

Implementing the systems and tools that we have learned over the past 18 months positions us well to execute a “Flow Through Event” that meets the current health guidelines of both the Province and the Interior Health Authority. Our plans have evolved through each stage of pandemic restrictions and for 2021, they have centred around the elimination of congregation and gatherings to keep our racers, crew and public safe.

Bike races are outdoors and we saw the success of the ski industry last winter. A race is naturally spaced, and can be adjusted in many ways to increase safety. From small waves, to appointment-based start times (think golf tee-off times), paired with all racers required to be fully vaccinated to participate, we can manage and execute within the current context of PHA guidelines. As disappointed as we are to lose the communal experience we’ve enjoyed in the beer gardens and our finish line celebrations, we are doing what it takes to put on an amazing race course.

Keep training and we look forward to seeing you in 5 1/2 weeks.
